Colorado's legislators are working on two new gun bills this session. The first bill would require gun owners to safely store their firearms in their homes. The second bill would require owners to report lost or stolen firearms to authorities.
Personally, I think both sounds pretty good and I think it's a shame that we have to regulate what should already be common sense. However, after an individual left his loaded firearm in The Hot Tomato bathroom last spring during a weekday lunch (HS kids frequent the HT during the school year) and it was returned to him without any penalty -- well, perhaps some legislation is needed to make it a minor offense for first timers to put other people in danger by being negligent with their firearm.
